About Me

Cathy Ingram

Cathy Ingram

I am 46 years old and mum to Billy (10yrs), Mabli (6yrs) and step mum to Maisy (17yrs). I grew up on a hill farm in Mid Wales, not too far away from my now partner in crime, Barrie.

Nearly 14 years ago, while working in a large hospital pharmacy in Melbourne, and after a few conversations with a work colleague, I agreed to join a gym called RBT (Results Based Training). I’d always loved walking, particularly the hills, and a little running, but I’d never done any kind of strength training. It was here, with the support and encouragement of an amazing trainer, that I noticed for first time, the effect of strength training on my body and mind. I well and truly picked up the strength training bug and started feeling ‘off’ when I couldn’t train - this feeling has stayed with me ever since.

I moved to London to a new job a couple of years later and was recommended UP (Ultimate Performance) Fitness in Mayfair, and had another fantastic experience. I soon found out I was pregnant but with their great support, I was able to continue my training and (much to the despair of work colleagues) cycled the 3ish miles to and from work - I found this safer than being squished on a busy tube and I felt amazing throughout the whole of my pregnancy. It was around the beginning of my last trimester, when my belly was literally getting in the way, I decided to stop training and walk everywhere. I moved back to Wales in 2014 and that same training niggle returned, but I needn’t have worried, I found Force Strength & Conditioning just outside Cardiff and was blown away by their support and guidance. I started training again at 6 months post partum and it didn’t take long for me to be back feeling great and enjoying this time for me.

We moved to Brecon in 2016 and I my second was born at the end of 2017. It was during my second maternity leave that I noticed a gap in exercise options for women and especially for mums like me. There was a weekly group at the local hospital led by a physio which was great, but as my baby got older, I needed more. I decided to travel to Cardiff, with the littlest one in tow, to see a women’s personal trainer because of pelvic floor issues I was experiencing, but it was not sustainable. Frustrated, I spent breastfeeding hours reading and researching and decided to start the process of becoming a personal trainer myself.

I qualified as a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Nutrition Advisor early 2021 and ‘Cathy Ingram, All Women Health and Fitness’ was born, with a vision to support All Women - no matter what life stage they are at - to strength train and feel all the benefits it brings, and for all the protective benefits for the future. The changes in body composition is a welcome side effect!

After a period of testing with three local entrepreneur mums, I launched a 12 week programme called ‘Strong Woman which aims to take a woman who has never strength trained before (like me, all those years ago) and with full support and encouragement, create a training habit for the long term, which includes how to fuel her body well with optimum nutrition, so she FEELS the best she can.

I am also qualified to support pre and post natal women and those with long term medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and more. I am currently studying Burrell Education’s 3rd Age Woman Menopause Transition course and Dr Stacy Sims Menopause 2.0 training.
